Tony
Shiny Pippin and the Broken Forest by Harry Heape
Pippin lives with her grandmother, who was once a master detective and scientist. When the animals in the magic forest are in danger and there is not enough water, it is young Pippin and her mouse, Tony, who set out to help them (fortunately she can talk to animals — hurray!) Along the way is an elusive diamond, some dynamite and an evil penguin (because they cannot all be Pingu) who smells of fish farts.
If you like adventures, badventures or gladventures, you will find much to enjoy in this book with its overabundance of cute and playful language and silly humour. Your child will be reading out their favourite laugh-out-loud moments whether you like it or not. Great fun for developing readers. 7+
