DETECTIVE BEANS
Adventures in cat town
[ graphic novel ]
[ A 5 star book ]
By LI CHEN

This book is a graphic novel about a young cat-detective called Beans, who lives in Cat Town.
The main characters are Beans [ aka Jellybean ] and his best friend, Biscuits. Sometimes his mum appears as well, with a helpful snack!
The book is set up so that each 4-5 pages [ around 20 panels ] is a new short story, so it’s fast-paced and moves along quickly. I really liked this, because the quick story scene changes and funny punchlines made me laugh over and over again. Sometimes there is a comic strip where it looks like it has actually been drawn by Beans, which is cool because it’s in a different style. And there are also parts where Biscuits is filming Beans, giving you snippets of comedy between detective cases.
My favourite parts are when Beans does his own mini newspapers to show the events that were happening around cat-town - or at least, what he thinks is happening!
I highly recommend this book for people who like animals, [ especially cats ] cute pictures and light hearted laughter.
I loved this book [ I am looking out for another one! ] and I hope many more kids will too.
Sincerely,
Harriet !!!
