About the event

We are so excited to be welcoming the wonderfully acclaimed Viviane Schwarz and Chris Riddell to the shop this half term! We will be celebrating their recent picture book, I Will Haunt This, on Monday 26th October, just in time for Halloween. This event will consist of ghostly fun, a storytime, live drawing, and book signing with Viviane and Chris.

About the event: Join Viviane Schwarz and Chris Riddell as they introduce I Will Haunt This, their beautiful new picture book full of friendship and kindness. When a girl helps a ghost settle into a round teapot full of warm memories, the ghost can do something for the girl too - encourage her creativity and confidence. You will be able to hear Viviane read the story aloud and watch Chris do a live drawing. Children will have the opportunity to do some drawing themselves and have their books signed by Viviane and Chris.

About the author: Viviane Schwarz is an author and illustrator of children’s books, including There Are Cats in this Book and Maud is Moving. Viviane's books have won awards, most notably two shortlistings for the CILIP Kate Greenaway, winner of the 2016 Little Rebels Award and an IBBY Honour List nomination for illustration in 2018. Viviane is also an interactive designer who has published card games and has created museum installations, a university lecturer, and sometimes a performer – encouraging everyone to stay curious, creative, and to keep collaborating.

About the illustrator: Chris Riddell is an author and illustrator who was the 2015-2017 Children's Laureate. Chris is also the political cartoonist for the Observer. Chris wrote and illustrated the beloved Ottoline series, the Goth Girl books, and more recently, A Mermaid's Diary. Chris has illustrated numerous other popular titles and his books have won a number of major prizes, including the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medals and the Costa Children's Book Award 2013. Chris has been honoured with an OBE in recognition of his illustration and charity work. Chris illustrated our very own Alligator's Mouth logo and was honoured with cutting the ribbon to open The Alligator's Mouth for the very first time when we opened back in 2015.
