Creative Writing Course with Mariah Mannae: Summer Term

We can't wait to welcome Mariah Mannae back to the shop for another fantastic creative writing course! We have been running these courses every term throughout the academic year, plus holiday workshops. This will be an 8-week course taking place on Thursdays after school throughout the Summer term. Your ticket will cover the entire course, all materials provided.

The course will take place on the following dates:

Session 2: Thursday 23rd April 2026

Session 3: Thursday 30th April 2026

Session 4: Thursday 7th May 2026

Session 5: Thursday 14th May 2026

Session 6: Thursday 21st May 2026

Session 8: Thursday 11th June 2026

PLEASE NOTE:

• There will be no session during May Half Term (Thursday 28th May 2026).

• Mariah will be running two classes every Thursday. These sessions will consist of the same course, so please book according to your preferred timeslot. Please see the following ticket options below: 3:45-4:35pm OR 4:45-5:35pm on Thursdays.

Course information:

This course is designed for children ages 7-12 and offers a great opportunity for young writers to develop creativity, writing skills, and make friends amongst the group. The sessions allow participants to build their own stories throughout the term, guided by Mariah, with the opportunity to share ideas and progress with their peers.

If you have previously participated in Mariah's courses, you are welcome to join again for a brand new term of content. If you have not yet participated in Mariah's courses, this is the perfect opportunity to start! We love to welcome both new and familiar faces to our community of young writers.

These classes are designed to promote creativity, confidence, literary technique and imaginative thinking. The write your own story classes will consist of imaginative based games and writing activities that spark originality, voice and world building. The classes are all about community, creativity and connection; allowing young writers to explore new ideas in a collaborative space, working towards crafting their own unique narrative which they will finish by the end of the course.

This term, participants will:

✍️ Discover new writing techniques

📖 Develop and edit their own original piece

📚 Take home a finished piece of work

🎤 Share their work with friends and family at the end of the term (optional)

About Mariah Mannae:

Mariah is an accomplished writer, educator and youth mentor, with over 10 years of experience in arts and education. She was one of only 16 selected for the prestigious Curtis Brown Creative Novel Program. She received the Dennis Diderot Grant for her screenplay and completed a residency in the renowned Château d'Orquevaux Artists & Writers Residency in France. Mariah is passionate about empowering the next generation of creatives and helping young artists find their voices.

The price of the full 8-week course is £120 per child, which includes a £5 Alligator's Mouth voucher to spend instore. This ticket will cover the classes on all of the above dates, according to your chosen timeslot.
