Axel Scheffler: Illustrator Signing

We are delighted to be welcoming the brilliant Axel Scheffler back to the shop for a public signing on Saturday 6th December 2025, from 11:00am-12:30pm.

Axel is the bestselling illustrator of beloved classics including The Gruffalo, Stick Man, Room on the Broom, and many more. A close friend and supporter of the shop, Axel often visits us to sign and dedicate books for his many fans.

This event is FREE, but please RSVP below. Axel will be signing books from The Alligator's Mouth, either bought on the day or pre-paid in advance (details below). On this occasion, due to limited time, Axel will not be able to sign additional books brought from home.

Axel will be meeting customers on a first come, first served basis. Please be prepared to queue, and be aware that there may be some waiting outside. Due to limited time, we cannot guarantee that Axel will be able to meet everyone. If you cannot attend the signing in person, or if we run out of time at the event, purchased books can be reserved at the shop and signed at a later date, ready for collection/postage before Christmas.

Pre-ordered books must be paid for ahead of the signing. To purchase books in advance, please visit our online shop HERE or you can pop in and pay in the shop.

For ONLINE ORDERS: please "VIEW CART" before Checkout to add your dedication (first name only). Please note whether you will be attending the event in person, or whether you would like to have the books collected/posted at a later date. Please add shipping fees to your basket in order to organise postage directly to your home.
